Progress is in full swing on the Waimate West water main renewal project for the South Taranaki District Council! This essential upgrade is part of a larger initiative to provide the Waimate West community with durable and reliable water infrastructure that will serve the area for years to come.
One of the key locations for this project is Taikato Road, where our team is tackling the challenge of installing a DN180 pipe beneath both the driveway and the road carriageway. To achieve this, we’re employing innovative trench-less techniques designed to enhance efficiency and minimise disruption for the local community.

Using a specialised drilling machine, we’re able to bore the pipe under the surface without the need for extensive excavation. This not only reduces the impact on the environment but also ensures traffic and daily activities can continue with minimal interference. Complementing this process is the use of a sucker truck, which plays a crucial role in keeping the site clean and safe. By removing mud, water, and debris generated during the drilling process, the truck ensures a tidy and efficient work environment while preventing potential hazards.
This renewal project represents a significant investment in the Waimate West community, improving water supply reliability and reinforcing infrastructure to meet future demands. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality work, using innovative methods and expertise to meet the Council’s vision for a sustainable and resilient water network.
Stay tuned as we share more updates on this exciting project. With every step forward, we’re proud to contribute to creating a better future for the Waimate West community. If you have questions about the project or are curious about our methods, feel free to reach out—we’d love to hear from you!
